Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero (born Patricia Apollonia Kotero) is an American actor, singer, and former model. The most well-known of her works is the star of the 1984 Prince Purple Rain film and lead singer in the girl-group Apollonia 6 The actor and singer who was christened Apollonia by Prince became one of the many female performers in the 1980s who benefited from her relationship with Prince, the Purple One. Born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959 her career began as a model actress by the end of the '70s and included an appearance on the TV show CHiPS. In 1984, Patricia Kotero was a part of the main woman in the movie Prince's Purple Rain. (During this period of time, he changed her name.) She then replaced Vanity as a member of the female trio Vanity 6 who starred in the movie with Apollonia 6 under their name. Her performance had more impact on the charts as Prince's mate in Take Me with You, which was a duet in the soundtrack. Kotero ended her relationship with Prince after differences over the course of her career. Apollonia 6 broke up after their fallout. She went on to appear in several minor films during this time (reportedly refusing to take part in The Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) and then landed a role on the night-time show Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia was the first artist to release her album in 1988, however it was an average mix of dance and R&B music which did not impress the public. The album quickly disappeared from view. The following decade saw she continued to be active as an actress (if somewhat unnoticed) and also in a few film roles, television appearances and even an exercise film. Apollonia released a CD in Spanish and English named Stay With Me in 1997. Later on, following getting back to university and earning the degree of filmmaking, she started her own production company.
